TGL Golf Set to Debut in 2025

Updated: Apr 5, 2024

TGL Golf's Long-Awaited Debut: January 7, 2025

TGL Golf, a new tech-infused golf league spearheaded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, is set to make its long-awaited debut in 2025 after overcoming setbacks. Originally slated for January 9, 2024, the league's start-up was derailed by a dome collapse due to a temporary power system failure. Now, TGL Golf is gearing up for a grand return on January 7, 2025, with the first three fixtures scheduled for consecutive Tuesdays in that month.

Twenty-four PGA Tour stars will compete in six teams at the custom-built SoFi Centre in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The league's matches will be broadcast on ESPN and ESPN+, aligning with the channel's coverage of the NFL Playoffs and the College Football Playoff.

Mike McCarley, co-founder of TMRW Sports alongside Woods and McIlroy, expressed excitement about introducing sports fans to this innovative form of team golf. With support from partner SoFi, TGL Golf aims to revolutionize traditional sports institutions using technology.

Who is participating so far?

The league's roster includes teams such as Atlanta Drive GC, Boston Common Golf, and Los Angeles Golf Club, with Atlanta Drive, LAGC and NYGC being the only teams with complete four-man rosters. Despite challenges, TGL Golf is poised to bring a fresh perspective to the world of golf, drawing attention from both fans and players alike.

TGL rules explained

A new video released from the official TGL Twitter account explains the rules and structure of the TGL once again.

Im sure this time nothing will happen to prevent the start of the league, and everything will go smoothly. Unfortunately, golf struggles to engage viewers who are not already fans of the sport. However, with this new format, there is potential for a new era of golf entertainment. Let's stay tuned.
